Lots of leeway on what qualifies as federal hardware or not, but this is the selection we have that we think might fit into the category of "federal." The Federal period is generally accepted to have stretched from at least the last two decades of the 1700s through at least the first two decades of the 1800s. Metalworking techniques were improving rapidly during this time and the federal style of hardware shows off some of the first decorative and adorned hardware. Hardware meant to be beautiful, not just serviceable was becoming available to a much wider range of people. Decoration hardware started showing up on buffets, sideboards, and in the kitchen.
